Rachel S. Hunter, a native of Cookeville, TN, currently works as Specialized Faculty and Production Manager for the FSU School of Dance. She started Hunter Dance Project in 2017 while searching for a way to continue to create and share work with her colleagues and community. She has experience teaching contemporary technique, ballet, jazz and musical theatre styles, as well as production and composition. Rachel has the honor of restaging works by Dan Wagoner and working with his family on the archival of his repertoire. The majority of her own research and creative work is in the contemporary and dance-theatre genres finding a space of embodied storytelling while using humor as a process to connect with audiences. When time allows, Rachel continues performing her own work as well as other choreographers and even dabbles into musical theatre and straight plays. She earned her BFA in Dance from Virginia Commonwealth University and her MFA in Dance from Florida State University.
